Clarence W. Seay
Clarence W. Seay, a member of Jackson Street United Methodist Church, was principle of Dunbar High School from 1938-1968. He was a leading representative for African Americans in Lynchburg. He was the first black elected to Lynchburg City Council after the Reconstruction and gained the position as Vice-Mayor. On July 1,1968 he became the Assistant Professor of Education at Lynchburg College and was the first and only African American to be employed at the college at that time.
